Lombard Street Paid marks

General Post Branch Offices — Lombard Street — Paid Marks.

The Paid marks were similar to the Unpaid except that the top word in the frame was 'PAID'.
The one exception was an additional series (type 5) in which the four line layout was:-
L.S. — PAID — Date — Year.

Type 1. Standard Series.
In use Oct. 1829 to Dec. 1832.

This cover is dated 25th Aug 1832 and bears a Type 1a mark in use Oct. 1829 to Dec. 1831 and May 1832 to Dec. 1832. This type has a flat topped figure 3.
Interestingly the left hand side and bottom parts of the frame give the impression of being 'double frame'. However it would appear that this was simply caused by movement as the stamp was struck on the cover.
